We were very sad to hear of the death of another young person on Irish farms this week.
The teenagers were helping a neighbouring farmer in a sugar beet field when the incident happened near Ballon at about 10.30am.
The dead boy is understood to have been pinned under the trailer. He was rushed with his brother to St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, where he died later. He was due to return to secondary school yesterday.
His brother was recovering in hospital. We hope that he gets better soon and that his family will be comforted during this very tough time. We can only imagine what it is like for his school friends and their teachers as well. It has been a nice week for us going back to school and seeing everyone again, we hope that there will be great support for his classmates and teachers alike also.
Lately we heard of a great group called EMBRACE who help people bereaved by farming accidents. We must learn abit more about them and will blog their details again.
