So this year we auditioned for the late late toyshow - we didnt get picked but we are still working on getting farm safety to feature! look at the email we sent the late late show last wk - we haven't had a reply yet but we wont give up especially with yet another farming death yesterday!
We are Aoibheann Mangan aged 9 and Padraic Godwin age 10 and we are coders, writers and owners of www.farmsafety4kids.net and twitter page @farmsafety4kid.
We are writing to you to request that you would do a feature on farm safety and even farm safety for kids on the late late show sometime.
We had auditioned for the toyshow (well we hope you got it thanks to the postal strike) and while we werent picked, we would ask you to look at our audition tape again to see the books that we were reviewing. We think that to get farm safety spread to the children of Ireland that books we reviewed should be used by the lucky kids who get picked, The books were written by Alma Jordan (www.agrikids.ie) and are called The Big Brown Bull and The Tree swing. these are fabulous books with great characters that kids will love, lovely illustrations and most importantly an excellent farm safety message in every story. We also think that the toyshow will have one of the biggest audiences for tv ever so if you would use the books and help spread the word about farm safety it would reach so many homes and get everyone to think. After all as you know - your in the kids show business - we are the little powerful noise, that voice in side your head that nags, moans and complains untill you put on your seatbelt in the car basically untill you do everything we say so we think armed with more farm safety information children will be a great tool to spead the message and help stop the huge increase in farming accidents that we have seen in Ireland in the last 2 years, the accidents that make farming the most dangerous occupation in Ireland despite it being the smallest workforce in Ireland.
There has been too many children killed on Irish farms this year and last especially as Christmas draws near and a new Year looms, can you help us to make sure farm safety is something on peoples minds reading their children or their own bedtime stories!
We would really love if you would contact us and let us know you got this email and be even happier if you would agree to do a feature on farm safety if you couldnt get these books into the toyshow - maybe on another nights show you might showcase them and some farm safety pieces - we know we would love to do whatever we could do make a great piece.
